We often use spices and herbs to make our meals rich, aromatic, colorful, and flavorful. But they both give us so much more than what our senses initially perceive!
Herbs and spices are rich in antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-bacterial compounds that can truly make a difference in our overall well being. Frequent consumption of spicy food is linked to a lower risk of death from cancer, heart diseases, or respiratory diseases.
Though often categorized together, the main difference between the two is that herbs are the leafy part of the plant while spices are other parts of plants dried up, including seeds, flowers, fruits, root, stem, or bark.
