Nuts – Discover Their Connection With Longevity

Nuts are incredibly rich in nutrients and flavor! The best part is that eating them has been linked to longevity. Most likely, this is because they are great for our heart health, our metabolism, and they also have strong anti-cancer properties. Some of their top nutrients include vitamin E, vitamin K, and minerals like magnesium, copper, potassium, and selenium. Plus, they are a great source of fiber and protein.

We shouldn’t go completely nuts when eating them, though. This delicious plant is very rich in fat content. When we eat them whole, a lot of that fat may stay with the fiber, pass along, and get disposed without us absorbing it. However, if we eat them processed into nut butters or flours, we will end up absorbing most of it in our body.

In this category we are including peanuts. Though they are technically a legume, their nutrition profile is closer to that of nuts, especially when it comes to fat content. As such, be mindful when eating peanut butter. Opt for chunky butter when possible, or simply eat your peanuts whole.
